Direct cremation in London
A direct cremation is a cremation without a funeral service. We care for the person who has died at our funeral home in Edgware, then take them to the crematorium. There is no ceremony, and family and friends do not attend the cremation.
Families choose it for different reasons. Some want to keep things simple. Some want to keep the cost down. Others would rather say goodbye in their own way, later, at a time that feels right.
Direct cremation for £2,100
Our direct cremation costs £2,100. That price includes:
- Collecting your loved one and bringing them into our care
- Arranging all the paperwork
- Washing and dressing by our professional team
- Embalming, if you would like it
- A standard oak coffin
- Transport to the crematorium
- The cremation, including the crematorium fee
It does not include a funeral service, a choice of date, time or crematorium, or the family washing and dressing your loved one themselves. If any of those matter to you, our full cremation service may suit you better.
Collections before 9am or after 4pm on weekdays, or at weekends, have an extra fee. You can see it on our

Attended direct cremation, £2,250
If you would like a few quiet moments with your loved one first, choose an attended direct cremation for £150 more. You can spend time with them in our mandir, our chapel of rest, before they go to the crematorium. There is still no ceremony at the crematorium.
How a direct cremation works

- We collect your loved one and care for them at our funeral home in Edgware.
- We arrange the paperwork and book the cremation.
- We let you know when the ashes are ready, and you collect them when it suits you.
Saying goodbye in your own way
A direct cremation does not mean going without a goodbye. You might hold prayers at home, a memorial gathering, or an ashes scattering later on. We can help with an ashes scattering here in the UK, or arrange for the ashes to travel overseas, including to India.

Can we attend a direct cremation?
No. There is no ceremony, and family and friends do not go to the crematorium. With an attended direct cremation, you can spend a few quiet moments with your loved one in our mandir beforehand.
How much does a direct cremation cost?
Our direct cremation is £2,100, including the crematorium fee. An attended direct cremation is £150 more.
What is included?
Collecting your loved one, all the paperwork, washing and dressing, embalming if you want it, a standard oak coffin, transport to the crematorium, and the cremation.
Can we choose the date or the crematorium?
No. With a direct cremation, we arrange the date, time and crematorium for you. If you need a set date or a particular crematorium, ask us about our full cremation service.
When do we get the ashes back?
We will tell you when the ashes are ready, and you can collect them at a time that suits you. We keep them safely for the first month at no charge.
Can the ashes be taken overseas?
Yes. We can arrange for ashes to travel to India and many other countries. An urn for overseas scattering, with the certificate you need, costs £100.
